If you’re in the market for a classic Ford, this just might do the trick: a 1971 Ford Torino CJ tribute, we found for sale in Calimesa, California.
The owner has converted his Torino to a drag race car, complete with bead locked wheels (apparently on all four of them). He claims to have subjected the car to Las Vegas dragstrips not too long ago, where he says he ran a best of 12.9 with only 3.50 gears. The engine is a blueprinted 460 commanding about 450 hp, and the car has a C6 transmission with a 9″ rear end.
The owner also added a 1000.00 CJ hood scoop as well as a new wiring, and starter ignition system. The body is straight as an arrow with no dents, and the doors and trunk line up and shut properly. The wheels and tires are new, and even use Mickey Thompson ET Street Radials for the rear; a nice touch and a pretty penny, to be sure. All in all, terrific shape for a car that has seen its fair share on the strip.
As far as interior goes, it’s claimed to be new and in very good condition. The electric fans “keep her cool always.” He seems truly proud of his vehicle and ready to defend its honor, should it be challenged or questioned.
Regarding trades, he seems open to the possibility, permitting that the trade involves an “equal quality car 1965-1970” with “some muscle.”
But you’re probably wondering: can this be legally driven outside of the drag strip? It can, says the owner, and will pass inspection both on and off the blacktop. A really good price for this car, and it’s definitely one that demands respect and attention anywhere it goes.
