One of the number one dreams for many Americans is to open up their very own restaurant. Among car enthusiasts, many are those who dream of running their own performance or custom car shop. The thing about running a successful restaurant is not only good food, but getting people’s’ attention. And what better way to get the attention of potential customers than with loud, obnoxious hot rods?
That’s the idea behind Hotrods Old Vail, a combination hot rod/customs shop and full-service restaurant that just opened in Tuscon, Arizona. The restaurant just celebrated its opening night, and the car theme certainly seems to cater to the clientele. This guy is definitely on to something good here.
“This guy” being an anonymous owner who had the whole restaurant/garage built from the ground, up. The custom building features interior garage doors, workbenches and bar stools and an overall “shop” feel to it. The menu focuses on sandwiches and other “average guy” fare, and judging from all the photos the place seems to be quite popular with the locals.
The garage theme is evident inside and out.
But the decor isn’t only for show; next door to the restaurant is a full-service garage and custom car shop. There are already a bunch of projects under way, and outside of the building there is plenty of parking for all sorts of shows and cruise nights to take place. Hotrods Old Vail certainly has a schtick going for it, and as far as car guys are concerned, it’s a must-see destination on any given trip or just for a local hangout.
While a restaurant/garage is certainly a good idea, what other businesses might go well with a custom car shop theme?
