Some of you may not consider the Back to the Future series to be a car movie, but we’d beg to differ. Not only is the time traveling vehicle a DeLorean, a car bearing the name of one of the founding fathers of automotive styling and performance, but cars of the past, then-present, and future were featured predominantly across all three movies.
But the DeLorean is the real star, and the Back to the Future fan site BTTF.com recently reported that the original time-traveling DeLorean hero car is undergoing a full restoration after being exposed to the elements for many years.
As with every car-centric film, there was more than one DeLorean used in the filming of Back to the Future. Each car was designated by letter, with the “A” car being used for close-ups and glamour shots. After filming came to a close though, the A-car was not taken care of. Stainless steel may not rust, but the rest of the car went to hell.
But thanks to the efforts of BTTF and numerous fans of the film, the A-car will be undergoing a full restoration. A dedicated Facebook page will track the progress as this movie time machine gets the full restoration treatment. We can’t wait to see how it progresses.
