It took America a few years to warm up to the four-door Dodge Charger, but thanks to an awesome HEMI V8 and special nostalgic editions like the Charger Daytona package, it is now America’s favorite rear-wheel drive sedan. But the newly redesigned Charger hasn’t gotten any of that special edition love yet, though that could all change come January.
That is when, according to one poster on the AllPar forums, a new Charger Daytona special edition will make its debut. And if it is anything like the last Daytonas, we have plenty to look forward to, but a sizable wishlist as well.
Back in “the day”, the Charger Daytona was the ultimate muscle/supercar, with outlandish aerodynamic body kits and a massive HEMI engine that made them the fastest cars on the road by far.
More recent Charger Daytona packages have been appearance-only improvements that included special hoods, striping, and badging. We’re hoping for something somewhere in between.
Specifically, we’d like an aerodynamic, but not quite over-the-top body kit, and a few minor performance modifications as well. Maybe a bit more horsepower, some suspension improvements, and maybe even a little diet from a carbon fiber hood or lighter wheels, something to help set the Daytona apart without being garishly ostentatious (in other words, it should be as fast as it looks). That’s our wishlist for the next Charger Daytona. What’s yours?
