Before Dodge killed Viper production, it put out some very serious snakes under the ACR badge. Built for the track but totally street legal, the ACR Vipers laid down some serious times from Laguna Seca to the Nurburgring. Yet without the Viper, the ACR moniker has no car to go on. Or does it?
This morning Mopar announced that it would be bringing 30 different customized cars to next week’s SEMA show in Las Vegas. Among the entries is a 2011 Challenger SRT8 ACR model. So is this just a show car…or a preview of what’s to come?
What started out as a Challenger SRT8 392 has become a serious race car with a modern suspension package from Mopar. Included in the package is a coil-over suspension, front and rear strut-tower braces, a front splitter, short-throw shifter, custom exhaust, and a set of Goodyear F1 supercar tires.
The exterior received as much attention as the drivetrain, with a carbon fiber hood and plenty of “ACR” badges across the body. 20-inch wheels a, red stripe and red accents on the brake calipers and side mirrors really help this muscle car pop. And course there is the standard roll bar and fire extinguisher inside, because what track car is complete without a fire extinguisher?
