With the North American International Auto Show set in their sites, all three big American automakers were revving up their debut models for the eager crowds and antsy journalists. While Chrysler doesn’t have any brand new models, per se, to present, they did bring out some new packages across their entire lineup.
This includes a new “Blacktop” appearance package, which first debuted on the 2012 Dodge Charger. Dodge is expanding this package to be available on just about every car in their lineup, save for the all-new Dodge Dart. Why could that be?
For those not in the know, the Blacktop package offers black accents to the headlights, grille, and fog-light bezels. The package also adds an all-black interior to the models offered with this package. This obviously includes both the Charger and Challenger and even the Avenger, but Dodge has expanded the Blacktop package to include some more family-oriented vehicles.
The Blacktop package will now be available on most Dodge models, including the Durango, Grand Caravan, and Journey. The Blacktop package will add most of the above features, as well as larger wheels (up to 20-inches on the Durango) for between $295 and $995. If you’re looking for a way to make your Dodge stand out from the crowd, the Blacktop package is an affordable way to do so.
Still, we have to wonder where the Dodge Dart Blacktop package is. Maybe Dodge doesn’t want to steal the spotlight from the just-announced Dart GT?
