Owning an old car is a vast undertaking for the unprepared, and it can be a real system shock going from the comfort of modern cars to the more spartan confines of a classic. But what if you could take a modern performance car, like say the Dodge Viper, and shift its most important components into the body of a classic car like the 1971 Plymouth Barracuda?
Well the Time Machines garage has done just that, and one of their incredible Cuda/Viper combos is for sale right now on eBay. At $149,000, it isn’t cheap, but this is one ride that really has it all; modern performance, classic looks, and all the creature comforts.
Put up for sale by RK Motors out of Charlotte, North Carolina, this car is an exercise in awesome, and even the way the conversion takes place is rather incredible. Rather than settle for swapping the Viper’s V10 engine into a ‘71 Cuda, Time Machines actually mates a ‘Cuda convertible body to the Dodge Viper’s chassis.
This particular car (there is more than one, but not many) sits on a 1995 Dodge Viper chassis, and the 8.0 liter V10 engine has a supercharger to boot. That’s good for 547 horsepower and 623 ft-lbs of torque at the fat back tires. But that also means you get the Viper’s T-56 six-speed transmission, the Dana 44 rear end, and the cutting-edge (at the time) suspension and chassis.
We can guarantee you there are not many ‘71 ‘Cudas that can hang with the ViperCuda, and all for the price of a nice house.
