We found this ’32 Plymouth coupe on eBay built as a retro style rat rod. For quite a while now, there were tons of thrown-together piles of iron popping up all over the place because of the fad that emerged about five years ago with all the old school hot rods; known mostly as rat rods. Initially, we saw a nice, tastefully built car with all the patina and period correct parts you’d expect of a time-capsuled street machine. Then, out of nowhere, hundreds of hastily-cobbled together clones were coming out of the woodwork…
This particular car is definitely not one that was thrown together for mere profit. It has the low stance and tall whites over the red steelies that you’ve come to expect of a rat rod, but that’s where the similarities end.
It was professionally done which means it was well thought out. The car was chopped, channeled over the ZD frame and completed with all the vintage parts that make this build flow very nicely.
The 283 small block Chevy engine is topped with Stromberg carburetors, a Dana rear, and Turbo 400 transmission are all parts that a guy could have collected before the rat rod craze came about. Even the Spartan interior and steering wheel fit the build. The Coker rims and tires are merely the icing on this cake.
The ’32 Plymouth body is much rarer than its Ford cousin, and this one was built to drive and be reliable, so if your looking for something different then this may be just for you. Sure, the bidding might have ended, but with a single bid, this ratted ’32 Plymouth is likely still up for grabs!
