A fairly optimistic seller on is attempting to sell this a 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T body on eBay. However, there doesn’t seem to be much of a usable body left. The owner claims the car was a 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T with a 383 and 4-speed manual, and both are long gone. There isn’t a title, and the owner claims there are plenty of parts to use. The entire body is rusted with the exception of the passenger side door. In the engine compartment, there are some wires and all four headlights seem to be hanging from them. The owner claims the car still has the dash with the original tic-toc tach, and 150 MPH speedometer, as well as all 3 pedals.
1970 was the debut year of the Dodge Challenger. The R/T (Road & Track) was the performance model that could be equipped with three hopped up V-8s: the 383 RB, 440 RB or the legendary 426 Hemi engine. The 383 RB was equipped with a 4 bbl carb and produced a titan 335 BHP. The motor was tied to either an A833 4-speed manual transmission or the famous 727 Torqueflite automatic.
Unless the SE (Special Edition package) was ordered, the Challenger R/T had only minimal luxuries since it was focused on racing. These luxuries included an eight-track tape player, cloth interior, the above mentioned 150 MPH Speedometer and an 8,000 RPM tach.
1970 Challengers are becoming a rare sight these days, and aside from the drivetrain, parts are becoming difficult to find. However, we aren’t sure that a dash, tach, speedo, pedals and 2000 lbs of rusty scrap metal are worth $1500. What do you think? Would you pay $1500 and try to salvage this E-body?
