In our scrapes of auction sites that happen almost every single day, we come across plenty of expensive eye candy that we definitely wouldn’t mind owning. But, none have ever made the list quite like these examples.
Recently deceased “Smokey and the Bandit” actor, Burt Reynolds, had long planned to attend the famous Barrett Jackson event Las Vegas, coming up this weekend. While he may no longer be with us, five of his personal vehicles – three Pontiacs and two Chevys – are still going to cross the block.
With a 400ci V8 sitting under the hood, and many queues from the movie, all the way down to the CB radio, the famous ’79 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am from “Smokey and the Bandit” will take the spotlight – no doubt.
Also available will be a 1978 Firebird Formula, recreated to mirror the car from the movie “Hooper.” It houses a 403ci V8 paired with a three-speed automatic transmission. The other vehicles include a Trans Am themed 2015 Camaro (which is one of 77 built), Burt’s 1984 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am, and a 1987 Chevrolet R30 pickup truck. The pickup replicated the actor’s “Indy Hauler” pace truck in the ’80s film “Cannonball Run,” with the same two-tone livery, but with modernized components such as power brakes, power steering, and air conditioning.
All vehicles in the collection were owned by Burt Reynolds himself – with each title printed and signed with his name. We’re curious to see how much money people are willing to put on the line to own one of the Bandit’s collectors items.
