Twenty-four cars from the Carroll Shelby estate are offered by without reserve at the Bonhams sale during the Greenwich Concours d’Elegance in Greenwich, Connecticut – Located just 30 minutes north of New York City – on June 3. According to Bonhams, the cars come from the late racers personal collection and represent his personal interests over the years and his association with Ford and Mopar.
Street Muscle Magazine had a few questions for the Carroll Shelby estate, however, representatives declined to comment but noted more information will be released shortly.
“We’re honored to have been chosen to represent the legendary cars of the legendary man,” said Eric Minoff, Bonhams Head of Sale for Greenwich.
Among the offerings, highlights include a 1969 Shelby GT 500 that was acquired from Academy Award-nominated actor and fellow car enthusiast Jackie Cooper Jr., chassis 0001 of Carroll’s own 1999 Shelby 1 Series, and a 2011 Shelby Cobra CSX 8027 that was his personal example of the CSX 8000-series of modern Cobras.
Other significant cars offered include a 1935 Chrysler Airflow Sedan that is understood to have been acquired from Steve McQueen, and the 1982 Dodge Shelby Charger Prototype, which is the first collaboration between Shelby and Dodge – a famous relationship that would lead to the Viper.
The Bonhams announcement of the collection also noted a 92-percent sell-through rate at the event last year.
