When it comes to burnouts, sometimes we look to the Australians and their crazy, purpose-built burnout machines that sport four doors and a skyscraper induction system. We love burnouts, but why is it we always gravitate to the Land Down Under when we want to see not only the smokiest burnouts, but the most insane machines doing them?
We have burnout competitions here in the states, but burnout competitions are a way of life for some of these Aussies. And they love to put on a show for anyone willing to fill their lungs with the smell of burnt rubber.
While cruising around on YouTube recently, we noticed that burnout contests are aplenty, and hundreds of videos show up with one simple word search. Finding the jewels amongst the thousands of videos, however, is like finding a needle in a haystack. The only question that comes to mind is which one isn’t going to shred his tires down to the rims?
Burnout videos are easy to find, and the page usually gets filled with tire smoking offerings, but often times you get caught up in watching videos that have the best thumbnail image only to be disappointed because there’s so much smoke you don’t even get to see the car shredding the tires. Or even worse, the thumbnail is the highlight and the video doesn’t do it justice. But this video you see here doesn’t disappoint, not by a long shot!
When we came across “KRANKY” and his Holden HQ, the thumb was enough to draw us in, as we’re sure it did for you, too. Not only does he shred the tires, throwing chunks of rubber at the camera man, but after he successfully removes all the rubber from the tires and is down to the steelies, he continues to throw the hammer down as he leaves – so he can get another set of tires to do an even more spectacular burnout.
His second burnout starts the same: with the intent to fill the area with smoke, nothing less. But right from the start, fire erupts and the entire staging area is filled with flames. And yet he keeps going. After a short check to make sure all is okay, he doesn’t even wait for the safety worker to get out of the way and he’s already at it again, while the fire crew is busy putting out the fire behind him.
Looking at pictures of this car, it’s an awesome machine to start with, even though burnouts seems to be it’s primary function. This car has been treated to a custom leather interior, Auto Meter gauges, a B&M shifter, and Wilwood disc brakes all around. So it seems that he travels in style and comfort to these burnout competitions, and then he seems to literally destroy his car. Don’t you just love it?
