For anyone who is old enough to remember, there was a time when you could leave your car unlocked all night long in your driveway and it would still be there in the morning, waiting for you. Unfortunately, times have changed, and lowly car thieves are not only stealing cars from driveways and parking lots, but they’re also stealing them from locked garages.
Such is the case with this Plum Crazy 1973 Dodge Challenger that was stolen from the owners locked garage near the Burncoat St. area of Worcester, MA, this past March.
We found the original story posted on Pro-Touring.com recently, and through word of mouth the theft has spread like wildfire in the past couple of weeks reaching readers all over the United States, Canada, and even the United Kingdom. This disturbing story has been posted to dozens of automotive forums across the internet, as well as Craigslist, all thanks to a more than supportive group of friends and enthusiasts who are equally sickened by the cowardly act that has taken place.
It’s been said that the car was originally red before being repainted Plum Crazy; it has a 1971 front end and is powered by a green 340 with a dual quad setup sporting a bug catcher. Inside, the car has the factory slapstick shifter, and the original fender tag was still in place with the VIN JH23G3B305224.
The owners and their loyal friends are all asking everyone to keep an eye out for this car in the New Hampshire/New England area. We would all like to see this car returned to its owner – and the thieves returned to a jail cell where they belong.
