For the 2011 model year, Chrysler knew it had to do something “big” to get back into the game after a very public bankruptcy. Thankfully the Pentastar wasted no time in improving every model in its lineup, including the venerable SRT8 models. With a new 6.4 liter HEMI V8 and up to 470 horsepower, these new SRT models were at the vanguard of a Chrysler transformation.
While crosstown competitors like the Ford Mustang and Chevy Camaro have garnered most of the attention, the SRT8 models haven’t been forgotten. It took awhile, but Hennessey Performance has finally got around to releasing two supercharger kits for Chrysler’s SRT8 supercars.
The “entry level” kit, called the HPE600 is anchored by a TVS2300 supercharger, and also includes an ECU recalibration, new fuel injection, and a custom air induction system. All combined, the HPE600 increases horsepower by about 30%, from 470 horsepower to over 600. That’s an impressive boost, but we know for some people it isn’t enough.
For those willing to shell out a little more money, you can opt for the HPE650 package. With improvements over the HPE600 package that include a more aggressive tune and ported factory cylinder heads, horsepower is increased to a full 650 horsepower. Of course there are other additional upgrades available, and while HPE doesn’t provide an exact price, if you have to ask, you probably can’t afford it. Just sayin’, these kits are for those who don’t kid around.
