Though its record may not be “officially official”, just a few weeks ago the Hennessey Venom GT proved to the world just what it means to be the world’s fastest production car. The 270.49 MPH run at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Texas beat out even the mighty Bugatti Veyron, and to celebrate Hennessey has announced a special “World’s Fastest” Edition of the $1.25 million Venom GT.
Want one? Too bad, as Hennessey is only going to make three World’s Fastest Edition Venom GTs, and all three are already spoken for.
For those needing a refresher, John Hennessey took his 1,200 horsepower Lotus-based hypercar to more than 270 MPH at the Kennedy Space Center runway. Yet even though Guinness Book of World Record officials were on hand, because Hennessey couldn’t repeat the run, the record remains “unofficial.” Sounds like some silly European rules, but whatever.
Here in America, we say fast is fast whether you do it once or a thousand times, and the Hennessey Venom GT soundly trounced the competition. The unique livery paints the Venom GT in red, white, and blue, because America, and though it seems like a little thing, to collectors of powerful and expensive cars, this is a must-have. No wonder they already sold out…and hopefully, these American-made hypercars stay right here in America.
