You know we love burnout videos by the fact that we post at least a couple of them every week. But we’ll be honest; it can get a little repetitive, watching the same 400-plus horsepower muscle cars doing burnouts on a regular basis. Not boring…but more of a feeling of deja vu. That’s when we go looking for something different, something unique, something like this.
The Truth About Cars came across what can only be described as one of the baddest minivan’s ever created; a Dodge Grand Caravan with the potent engine of the Dodge SRT-4 under the hood. Not only is this a turbocharged minivan, it does a massive burnout and sounds like a damn jet engine to boot.
Details are few and far between on this one-of-a-kind hot rod. The video was first posted almost exactly a year ago, and while it has received a lot of views, we’ve not seen it on any other major car news outlet except TTAC. Which leaves us baffled, as this is one of those awesome oh-my-God-did-he-really-do-that stories.
And yet the swap was probably fairly straight forward, as both the 1996 Dodge Grand Caravan and SRT4 Neon both used an engine that shared a similar architecture; the 2.4 liter four-cylinder. Obviously, the turbo engine makes more power, especially with the 72 mm turbo upgrade (which has been done to this minivan.) This sleeper of a grocery getter also has a 4-inch exhaust, some subtle black wheels, and an automatic transmission.
Which has us asking…us this the sleeper of the decade, or what?
