While Chevrolet people had the Camaro, Ford people had the Mustang and Pontiac people had the Firebird in the late 60s, Oldsmobile fans were lucky enough to have the 442. But beyond what the traditional 442 could bring was the exceptional upgrades of a Hurst 442. Next month, one of the few Hurst 442s ever made will cross the block at the Monterey, California Mecum Auction. And trust us, this one is well worth the look!

mecum_hurst_olds_442_4Created by George Hurst, the Hurst 442 was built only in 1968 and 1969. In total, only 1,500 were made. Of those 1,500, 912 were commissioned for 1969. This particular car is documented at #211.

As was traditional of the Hurst Olds 442s, this bad boy has a 455ci high-output 4-barrel V8 stuffed between its front fenders, complete with the correct casting number. This is attached to a numbers-matching Turbo 400 Hydra-Matic transmission, which is controlled by a Hurst Dual Gate Shifter.

Other amenities that this Olds comes with is power steering, power front disc brakes, and a ram air intake system. This is all tucked under a glistening coat of Cameo White paint with Firefrost Gold accents. You’ll also find the car’s iconic dual-scoop ram air hood, fiberglass rear spoiler, black and gold bucket seat interior (complete with console, factory tach and gauges, and a push button radio) and specialty badging still intact.

mecum_hurst_olds_442_2Sitting atop BF Goodrich radial T/A tires, this classic Hurst creation is truly a rare collectors piece and its estimated $100k price tag reflect that.

If you’re interested in this car, it will cross the auction block at Monterey on Friday August 16th. Make sure to get your bidding credentials now so you don’t miss out on this special piece of muscle car history.
