While the picture is a bit grainy and a little out of focus, we see a Viper out testing at Hennessey Performance and the accompanying text with the social media post says: “Gen 5 viper at Hennessey? Very excited that Hennessey will offer the most warrantied quadruple digit horsepower on the market for the new Viper, and we’re taking orders today. Already got two that we plan to build.”
Hennessey Performance, of course, is well known for pushing cars like the Viper to limits that Ma Mopar didn’t, and their rendering from their site about the twin turbo Venom 1000 is enough to get the juices flowing. The plan for the 2013 SRT Viper is a whopping 1,120 horsepower, 1,092 lb-ft torque and a 0-60 time of roughly 2.7 seconds, with quarter mile times running about 9.7 seconds.
Could we see a Viper hit the 250 mph mark with this new performance package? It’s hard to say, but when Hennessey puts their magic to these cars anything is possible. And with two orders already placed, that means that we could be seeing the 5th gen Viper spinning a pair of turbos pretty soon.
We can’t wait to see what they can do to a car that already looks and performs the way the new SRT Viper does, and with the engine compartment already packed, placing a pair of turbos can get quite interesting.
We’ll look for more information as it becomes available, and also to see who those first two orders belong to!
