Despite weighing in over 5,300 pounds, the Jeep Trackhawk is one SUV that’s completely capable of putting many sports cars to shame, and now the Australian market is going to get to witness this firsthand.
The Jeep Trackhawk is currently the world’s fastest SUV and the brand’s newest flagship model. Despite not having fantastic aerodynamics, this cheetah-like warship of a vehicle has the same powerhouse as the Challenger and Charger Hellcats, the 707-horsepower, 645-lb-ft of torque supercharged engine. The only real change is the the slightly improved oil capacity.
Behind the 6.2L engine is a beefy TorqFlite eight-speed transmission, and full-time 4WD system. The five-passenger SUV is capable of reaching 60 miles per hour in only 3.5 seconds. Not only is it quick, it’s also the most practical Hellcat model, and probably the most practical sports vehicle around. It’s going to bring full seating and cargo capacity to gearheads, and also have the capabilities of handling rough terrain and off-road situations, which will come in handy is some of the rougher parts of the continent.
This Jeep also has a 7,200 pound towing capacity, and electronic limited-slip rear differential. These features will share space with launch control for the track. Great big Brembo calipers also give this Jeep superior stopping power. It seems there’s nothing there’s super utility vehicle won’t be able to do!
When it reaches Australia in March of 2018, it will have a price tag of $134,900, which is $103,141 in USD, quite pricey! Especially considering you can get a Jeep Trackhawk in the United States for $86,995.
