If you find yourself wanting a miniaturized muscle car to make your city life a bit easier, than you might want to check out this compact Camaro for sale on Craigslist in the Dallas area. Riding on an Volkswagen Beetle frame with a tiny Camaro fiberglass body on top, you’re not likely to fool anyone into believing this is the genuine article. But that doesn’t mean you can’t have fun.
The fiberglass Camaro body comes from Massachusetts-based KAR Manufacturing, which calls the kit the “Funtastik Mini-Camaro” but primarily made mini-cars for the likes of Shriners. There were actually two versions, one stretching a total of 170 inches, while the other was a mere 145 inches, compared to the 188 inches of the original Z-28. As short as it was, the Funtastik Camaro weighed between just 1,000 and 1,210 pounds, a true lightweight for any era.
Alas, you’ll have to settle for a standard air-cooled Beetle motor out back, and probably a lot of work to even make it roadworthy. For $3,000, the price is low enough to take a chance, but only if you’re handy with a wrench and willing to stand out at the next muscle car cruise night. At least you’ll have fuel efficiency on your side though.
