Corporal Kyle Mistretta, from the Rocky Mount Police Department in North Carolina, is on a mission. Honor fallen police officers with a Pro-Touring ’69 GTO patrol car and raise awareness for L.E.O.-F.A.S.T., The Law Enforcement Officers Family Assistance Search Team Foundation. The goal is to canvas the country in the GTO, generating monetary assistance for the families of police officers slain in the line of duty. Check out Pro-Touring.com for the details.
Originally owned by a F-16 fighter pilot, the 400 CI, ’69 Goat had seen better days. With the help of sponsor Paul Falcon of LS1 Excitement and other volunteers and craftsmen, Kyle went to work on bringing the car back to life.
First off, he ditched the white vinyl top and sprayed the whole thing out matte black. Then the ride height was addressed by scrapping the 14″ wheels and installing a Ridetech air suspension and a set of custom powder coated BOZE wheels with deep dish rears.
After the paint job, the project sat idle for awhile as Kyle amassed parts to build the motor. He decided to stay 100% Pontiac and opted for a 468 CI stroker V-8 pumping out a dyno certified 602hp and 605 ft lbs of torque. A T56 6-speed will eventually replace the old slushbox three speed tranny.
The GTO is a work in progress and any donations or a helping hand towards the completion of this build are much appreciated. Go to L.E.O.-F.A.S.T.’s website and check out Kyle’s blog for updates and pictures of his Poncho patrol car.
