The Ford Mustang has always been a popular contest prize because who the hell doesn’t want a free Mustang? It’s a car everybody knows, and even if they don’t love the original pony car, they have a certain respect for it. As has been tradition, Raybestos Brakes has built a Mustang restomod that stays true to the spirit of the original Boss 302 while embracing modern technology.
And once again, Raybestos will be giving away this unique Mustang at the end of its promotional tour. We’re sure you’re asking, “How can I win this car?” right? Well, the car will make a tour throughout the rest of the year, unfortunately, the sweepstakes is only open to Raybestos retailers/installers.
Raybestos teamed up with Schwartz Performance to restore the 1969 Mustang and painted it in classic Mustang colors and striping true to the time. Everything under the hood is decidedly more modern, however, as the custom muscle car features a new Ford Coyote engine similar to the one found on the modern Boss 302.
Schwartz also installed its “G-Machine” bolt-in chassis, as well as an off-the-shelf performance disc brake upgrade package from Raybestos. The killer combination makes for one mean Mustang.
That’s just the tip of the iceberg too, as Raybestos tapped some of the biggest names in the automotive aftermarket to help contribute to this project. This includes Ridetech, Ringbrothers, Dakota Digital, Forgeline, PPG Paint, Flaming River, Silver Sport Transmissions, and Ford Performance, just to name a few. This Mustang is a veritable who’s who of the automotive aftermarket.
The Raybestos Mustang will travel across North America before making its way to the 2016 Automotive Aftermarket Products Expo in Las Vegas, where the lucky winner of this restomod will be announced. In the meantime, you can follow along with the build on the Raybestos build page.
