It’s been a decade since the four-door Dodge Charger we’ve come to know and love (or at least begrudgingly accept) first debuted. Since then it’s been twice refreshed, the last one taking place for the 2010 model year. For the 2015 model year though, Chrysler is rolling out a new look for both the Charger, and its two-door sibling the Dodge Challenger.
Both cars will roll out at the New York Auto Show next week, and in anticipation of their release, Chrysler put out this teaser photo showing a new gauge cluster dominated by a familiar Super Bee logo.
So far Dodge isn’t releasing many details, saying only that the pair of performance cars is all-new from the inside out. There will be new powertrain combinations on tap that is sure to get enthusiasts “abuzz”, again hinting at the return of a hotter, faster Super Bee package. We don’t expect anything radical to come out of Chrysler, though we’re keeping our hopes alive that the EcoDiesel V6 makes its way under the hood of one, or both cars.
As far as looks go, the new Charger and Challenger are going to be riding on the same modified LX platform they first debuted with a decade ago. In other words, we don’t expect a radical redesign of the classic shape we’ve all come to know and love. Still, the retro design is starting to feel faded, and a fresh look could give new life to sales.
