At any given SEMA show, there are certain things you just come to expect, among them a plethora of modified Camaros, Mustangs, Challengers, and Corvettes. While imports have made some in-roads, and trucks have taken over the top floor, muscle cars still rule the roost at SEMA. But every now and then a blast from the past shakes things up and steals the show, and we might have just found this year’s surprise show stealer.
It comes from famed Mustang tuners the Ring Brothers, but it isn’t a Mustang. Rather, it’s a De Tomaso Pantera, a lost exotic of the 1970s, and project “ADRNLN” is a 600-horsepower stunner that does different right.
Done in conjunction with a skunkworks team from Nike shoes, the Ring Brothers have reimagined the Pantera for the 21st century, starting with a LS3 powerplant tuned to 600 ponies. A five-speed ZF transmission from Bowler Performance will send power to the rear wheels, fashioned by HRE.
But the Ring Brothers are about more than just engine swaps and fancy wheels. Big Baer brakes provide stopping power for a car with custom metalwork that tastefully improves on the Pantera’s timeless image. With small fender flares and function brake air ducts worked into the Pantera’s body, the Ring Brothers look to have improved on every aspect of the original. We can’t wait to see it in person at the 2013 SEMA Show just a few weeks from now.
