Teslarati, invited recently to a day at the track for a viewing of the Saleen Tesla Model S prototype, had the chance to hang out for some testing and tuning. Teslarati was able to view the Saleen designed Model S breaking a sweat during some vigorous exercise. Pushing the Model S through a day of 90 degree turns, passes on the straights, and sharp turns challenging some of the upcoming changes to the new Saleen project. With the Telsa prototype being kept top secret and tight lipped, Steve Saleen did say for Teslarati that “the result will be a transformation of the Model S sedan to a track-ready beast of an electric vehicle (EV).”
Saleen, who is widely associated to the Mustang, doesn’t plan on totally rebuilding the Tesla but will be working on various aspects of this already award winning electric ride. The battery powered ride is receiving street and track improvements to enhance the overall speed and brake results to new levels.
Of the few changes we do know, the already well performing chassis is being fitted with Bilstein suspension and shock absorbers that will build upon the balance and comfort of the ride. With these changes not offered in the standard model this will make for a smoother ride on the street or track.
Teslarati reported the upgraded Saleen ride is faster, and brake performance is producing better results than the standard Model S. Word is there is also some laser scanning as well. This is continuing to spark curiosity and inquiring minds of what other performance enhancements are in store.
Overall outer appearance of the Tesla Model S will receive a new sporty body kit, giving this ride a meaner and more aggressive stance. Changes will be seen in the look of the Model S from front to rear bumper with a more aerodynamic look. It has also been leaked the cabin will be redesigned with black leather sport seats along with a few new badges throughout. Saleen is promising along with new appearance trims that the most significant changes will be of a mechanical nature. We expect the end result to produce the first high performance all electric vehicle able to perform on or off track with the Saleen touch.
