Last week we brought you a sneak peek of Factory Five Racing’s SEMA 2012 Debut Hot Rod build. Factory Five Racing debuted quite a few killer new projects this year, but perhaps the hottest builds include the pair of “President builds.” The ’33 Hot Rod built for President of FFR, Dave Smith, and the Mk4 Roadster built by the crew over at SKJ Customs for Summit Racing’s President became the stars of the show.
The ’33 Hot Rod has quickly become one of Factory Five’s best selling models and the debut here at SEMA 2012 shows us exactly why! A classic build with modern power and hot licks laid down by Joann Bortles of Crazy Horse Painting, Dave Smith’s FFR ’33 proves that traditional looks can be perfectly matched with modern performance for a match made in heaven.
Powered by a Coyote 5.oL engine and matching Ford with Ford kept many critics happy, but Dave reminds us that he did this build for him, and not for any critics. That’s one of the nice things about the ’33 kit – unlimited engine/trans options and upgrades.
Also on hand was the beautiful Summit Racing Mk4 Cobra Replica, built in conjunction with Summit Racing and SKJ Customs out of Utah. Equipped with a 427 Ford matched with a Tremec 5-speed and Ford 8.8 rearend that’s suspended with the FFR 3-link, this Cobra Replica is no slouch.
As you can see in the featured video interview above, the SKJ crew are pro-builders versed in all things custom, and teamed up with Summit Racing this Mk4 was sure to be a hit! After seeing the quality of these FFR cars first-hand, Summit Racing now carries a complete line of FFR models for their customers.
Stay tuned as we’re sure we’ll be seeing more from the Factory Five and Summit Racing partnership, and check back here on Rod Authority for the full feature on Dave Smith’s ’33 coming soon!
