SEMA 2018: Vintage Air Breathes New Life Into First-Gen F-Bodies

The name Vintage Air is synonymous with classic rides. Over the course of a 42 year life, the company has garnered a huge following within the hot rod, muscle, and vintage auto industry – for good reason, too. The company is continually revising its product line, and adding new options to its list of offerings.

We caught up with the cold air creators at SEMA 2018, and Vintage Air proved, yet again, they are at the forefront of the industry with regard to climate control. For example, above, you’ll see a familiar product in the form of the Front Runner system for LS engines. For 2019, Vintage Air decided to accommodate those of us who are running larger throttle bodies on our LS engines, by utilizing an Edelbrock-style LS3 water pump, which has a lower profile. Vintage Air also coupled that with an all-new re-profiled bracket to provide more room and prevent it from rubbing against the throttle body.

We also had the opportunity to speak with Rick Love from Vintage Air, and he told us about some more new products they have coming out for 2019. The photo above shows their new bolt-in climate control panels for first-gen Camaro’s. Rick told us the great thing about these panels is, “They’re nice and thin, and they bolt right into the factory location on the dash. They run our gen-4 unit, and it gives you variable speed on the blower, variable temperature, and variable air blend.”

Pictured below is another upgrade for first-gen Camaro owners. Rick stated that the three knob control panel also bolts in place of the factory units for the ’67, ’68, and ’69 Camaro’s. They’re great for someone looking for a more modern aesthetic.

Prior to these options being available, what people would have to do involved retrofitting their factory control panel with a cable system provided by Vintage Air. A solid option, no doubt, but these new options make things that much easier, and cleaner.
