We’ve seen a lot of race-built street cars in our time, and we can say with confidence that this is up there with the best of them. Vance Kinney of Federal Way, Washington, put this bad-to-the-bone build together and did a mighty fine job. Bone
Every angle shows how tough this car is.
“I bought the car as a roller,” Vance told us. “It was the right car and it sat just how I wanted it to. I go to a lot of car shows and I see a lot of Chevelles, Camaros, and Novas, but not cars like this.” Vance wanted something different and that’s just what he got.
He’s had this 1967 Dodge Dart for about five years and he doesn’t really take it on the track. It’s built for the application, but Vance doesn’t have anything to prove. He put a 528 cubic-inch Indy race Hemi engine in it, along with a powerglide automatic transmission, and Ford 9-inch rearend with 4.56:1 gearing.
The engine is fueled by dual 750 cfm Holley carbs and the levels are kept in check via a full compliment of Auto Meter gauges inside. “It makes 650 horsepower now,” he told us.
We love Vance’s car, and we’d love to see what you guys are driving out there. If you love it, odds are good that we will too, so shoot us an email with a couple pictures and a little information on your ride, you might just see it here as one of our Street Features. Still a work in progress? Now worries, we’d always like to see a project for our What Are You Working On series.
