As enthusiasts, we all despise anyone who would dare harm our vehicles, be it vandalism or theft. But when we’ve put a lot of our hard-earned time and money into our vehicles, and have made an impact on others with that vehicle, the pain we feel when someone steals that vehicle cannot be imagined.

For Joel Highsmith, he knows that pain all too well as his car – the Highsmith HEMI Challenger Superbird – and his trailer were both stolen from the San Bernardino, California area last night. Both car and trailer were secured, but low life thieves cut locks and chains and stole the enclosed trailer with his unique 2008 Dodge Challenger inside.

We featured his high-speed “Highsmith HEMI” in 2012 after his attempt at the 200 mph club at the Mojave Mile, and spoke to both Joel and his daughter, Sammi, at the event. We enjoyed talking to both of them and seeing the Challenger Superbird in action, with Sammi besting her dad that day with a 195.1 mph run.

We are saddened by the news that the vehicle and trailer have been stolen, and ask for anyone with information to contact the authorities immediately. You can see pictures of the car and trailer below. There is a $10,000 reward for the return of this car.

Let’s get the word out and try to get this car back to Mr. Highsmith and let the authorities deal with the low life thieves who stole it. Please pass this on to anyone you know, car and trailer are likely still in the Southern California area.

UPDATE: A lifted, white F350 with big wheels/tires is the suspected thief’s truck. More surveillance videos in the area are being reviewed.

UPDATE #2: The car has been found and returned to Joel Highsmith, and the thieves will be prosecuted!
