Xceleration Media has further bolstered its editorial staff with the recent announcement of Cam Benty as editor of Power & Performance News (PPN). Benty’s presence adds yet another respected automotive voice to the talented lineup at Xceleration Media.
“It’s a privilege for me to welcome Cam Benty to the XM family,” said Group Publisher, Shawn Brereton. “His experience and lifelong devotion to the automotive industry and the performance aftermarket make him the perfect fit for our brand.”
A 38-year automotive professional, Benty has served as editor-in-chief of Motor Trend Specials, Real Edge, Sport, Car Craft, Popular Hot Rodding, Muscle Car Review, and Corvette Fever. Starting in 2000, Benty began specializing in content marketing working for the Specialty Equipment Marketing Association, COMP Cams, and American Racing Headers, and ultimately became Vice President of Marketing for Flowmaster/B & M Racing.
His experience and expertise in both media and marketing make him a perfect fit for the quickly growing Xceleration Media Group, where he will work to expand PPN’s footprint in both the print and digital space.
“With a focus on classic and late model muscle cars, PPN offers an opportunity to bring back old-school magazine entertainment,” Benty said. “Forgotten in the banner headlines touting 1400 horsepower small-block builds and seven-second street cars that adorn most car magazines, are the attainable, educational, and thought-provoking vehicle tech articles that propel new and established enthusiasts to the next step in their personal knowledge development. As editor of PPN, it is my directive to deliver regular news, views, and events to a thirsty automotive audience.”
By teaming Benty with automotive industry icons Jeff Smith and Richard Holdener, PPN offers more automotive perspective that any existing performance magazine today: over 100 years of hands-on automotive testing, building, experimenting, learning, and innovating all together on one daily online and quarterly print magazine platform. This background makes PPN well equipped to cast the die for automotive content delivery from here and into the next decade.
