A car that floats, a plane that turns into a highway vehicle and a car turned crime-fighting robot; these are all dreams of one automotive enthusiast or another over the last century. But as time goes on, we see more and more of these seemingly idiotic dreams turned into real-life automotive creations, or at least ones that take lead roles in Hollywood films. Jeff Bloch’s car is such a vehicle and recently competed in the 24 Hours of LeMons to prove its viability. Check out the video of Bloch’s unique contraption in the Barcroft TV video above, compliments of Car Buzz.
Bloch, a Washington D.C. police officer, started his project with a dream, the dream to combine a car and a plane for pure shock factor. A testament to his abilities to fabricate such a vehicle, the Spirit of LeMons was born, a modified 1956 Cessna 310 with a Toyota van chassis.
Earlier this year, Bloch, nicknamed “Speedycop,” and his crew, known as The Gang of Outlaws, competed in the 24 Hours of LeMons Southern Discomfort race at Carolina Motorsports Park in Kershaw, South Carolina with their plane/car creation.
Although they ended the March race in 65th place with just 179 laps completed and more than 10 hours short of the 24-hour mark, the crew still took home a win in the Index of Effluency category.
