The Yeti cruising to the Street Car Takeover.
Never underestimate the fox body Mustang. There was a reason they were chosen as police interceptor vehicles during the 80s and early 90s, labeled as Mustang SSP (Special Service Package). This specific fox body, dubbed The Yeti is a beast of a Mustang, stampeding over all its competition at the Street Car Takeover in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Posted by 1320, the Yeti shook things up at the Street Car Takeover, blowing by everyone that stood in its path. Driven by Jayce Andrade, brother to Street Outlaws racer John Andrade, his drag racing skills were on full display.
But first, let’s talk a little bit about the Yeti. It’s packed with a 496 cubic-inch big-block V8 engine with a 250-shot of nitrous that equates to 800 horsepower. Andrade mentioned the car was running extremely hot but it was due to running such a lean air/fuel mixture.
There wasn’t a single start where we found Andrade behind. His first opponent, a 1,200 horsepower R35 Nissan GT-R was simply crushed by the Yeti. Tuners must be in disbelief that such an old car could blow away the launch-control GT-R.
The Yeti waved goodbye to the Nissan GT-R right from the start.
Up next was a nitrous 383 cubic-inch Chevy Camaro, which the Yeti made short work of. A daunting opponent by its looks and performance numbers, the Yeti was pitted against a 1,500 horsepower turbocharged Mustang. However, Andrade’s solid start and overall driving skill was unmatched by his opponent who lost control and stalled out shortly after the race began.
Despite the burnout, the Mustang had no chance against The Yeti.
In the final race to take the event’s championship, the Yeti went up against a 71mm turbocharged 347 cubic-inch SBF fox body Mustang. The race looked close at the beginning but as Andrade hit higher gears, it was clear the Yeti was too fast to keep up with.
A blend of great driving and a well-built Mustang, the Yeti was consistent every race. From start to finish, Andrade had no competition with his masterful driving skills at the wheel. Racing runs deep in the Andrade family indeed.
