Nice cars always attract a lot of attention, and when you gather a whole lot of nice cars in a single place, people tend to turn out in droves. Entire communities can depend upon these gatherings of gearheads, though when you place a lot of people around a lot of cars, there is always the potential for some stupid and avoidable tragedy to mar the day.
Carscoop reports that at a De Tomaso gathering in the town of Borgholm, Sweden, came to an abrupt and horrifying end when one of the De Tomaso drivers hit the wrong pedal, smashing into a crowd of onlookers and a vegetable stand.
Carscoop reports that at a De Tomaso gathering in the town of Borgholm, Sweden, came to an abrupt and horrifying end when one of the De Tomaso drivers hit the wrong pedal, smashing into a crowd of onlookers and a vegetable stand.
The incident was caught on video, though it is hard to tell what exactly happened. The De Tomaso may have been doing a burnout, rather than parking like the other cars were. It is also implied that the driver may have hit the wrong pedal. Either way, the old car accelerated through a sizable crowd of people, leaving four people hurt, two of them seriously. The driver and passenger were also treated for minor injuries.
An investigation has been launched, though we don’t know how much help this video will be. It is an unfortunate reminder that as much as we all enjoy cars, we must respect them too. Otherwise, tragedies like this are bound to happen.
