Car clubs and enthusiasts across the country gather at a wide range of different establishments, from restaurants to bowling alleys to hospitals. Most of these venues are chosen for their location or parking lot size, and the main draw are the cars, rather than the locale. But an Austrian club has a different take on what constitutes a fun gathering or cruise; driving through long tunnels, engines roaring.
The Tunnel Cruisers Club has released this full-length video of their escapades driving through some of Austria’s best-known tunnels. Is this the start of a new trend?
We often say that one of the biggest draws when it comes to muscle cars isn’t the speed or the power…it’s the raw, unbridled roar of a big V8 engine. And the Austrian tunnel cruisers have taken to amplifying that sound (as well as the sound of lesser vehicles) by droving roughshod through Austria’s long tunnels.
The cars in this video are amazingly diverse, and there is a very healthy dosage of American muscle representing. Mostly we saw Mustangs, a couple of Corvettes, a few Bimmers, and even a Mazda. The Mustang definitely seemed to be the cruiser of choice though, and what engine roaring we can hear over the techno music certainly sounds good to our ears. Does this video make you want to head for the nearest tunnel and start laying down some revs or what?
