While there’s a tendency to stereotype our neighbor to the North as a bit docile, the Canadian-born and Canadian-exclusive SD 396 Beaumont is solid proof that big-block muscle had its enthusiasts up there, too. And judging by its Ontario license plate, this clean, cammed Beaumont still resides in its home country – keeping the Canadian musclecar scene alive and well.The Beaumont was introduced in ’62 as a trim level for the Acadian – another GM model primarily targeted at the Canadian auto market. The Acadian was essentially a slight spin-off of the Chevy Nova, but Beaumont-trimmed Acadians sold from Pontiac-Buick dealers.

From ’66 to ’69, however, the Beaumont seceded from the Acadian line and became its own model. The standalone Beaumont was more of a Chevelle offshoot, sharing the Chevelle’s sheetmetal, motors, and some wheels.

According to the uploader, its in all-original condition, too – except the massive cam, of course. Videos like these – with nothing but a cammed car sitting at idle for a few minutes – tend to be less than entertaining, but seeing such a rare car in such great condition that sounds so good is always satisfying to watch.
