You’ve been asking for it, and now it’s here — the 707-horsepower, supercharged Hemi V8 engine is now available from FCA. This engine is going to be perfect for many retrofit applications, junkyard cars, Chargers, Challengers, and so on…so let the games begin!
This engine is essentially the same engine you’d get when you buy a Charger Hellcat or AWD Grand Cherokee Trackhawk. It officially debuted during the 2017 SEMA show and comes with 707-horsepower and 650 lbs-ft of torque. It’s made for pre-1976 street and off-road vehicles.
The is the very first factory-direct, supercharged 707-horsepower crate engine kit that’s being offered by Mopar. It’s also considered to be a plug-and-play deal when ordered as a complete kit, and will include the PCM, power distribution center, needed engine and chassis wiring harnesses, accelerator pedal, ground jumper, O2 sensors, change air temp sensors, and the fuel pump control module.
In case you’re wondering why a crate engine would include a pedal, that’s because the Hellcat engines are throttle-by-wire designs, which provides microsecond by microsecond control that isn’t compatible with the decades out of date mechanical linkage in your old school Mopar.
The PCM comes unlocked with the default factory 707-horsepower calibration. It is optimized for use with a manual transmission like the Tremec Magnum.
This engine will retail for $19,530, and the kit ($2,195), front end accessory drive ($675), and air filter element ($100) here. What’s even more enticing is, when you order the whole engine assembled, it will be covered by a Mopar three-year, unlimited-mileage warranty.
