Cars and music and music videos have been smashed together for a long time. Typically, as of late, we see select cars from Bentley, Mercedes-Benz, and Ferrari but there was a time that the hot rod was a primary character. Think “Little Deuce Coupe” by the Beach Boys or “One Piece at a Time” by Johnny Cash.
Norman Reedus, possibly better known as Darryl from The Walking Dead is helping to bring back the spirit of the hot rod in music videos. He is directing a new piece for up and coming Los Angeles based punk band the Bots. The brothers, Mikaiah and Anaiah Lei ended up in the middle of the Barstow, California desert with Reedus and music label Fader for a more unique background. To add to the uniqueness of the dry lake bed, a couple of hot rod trucks are danced around in view of the cameras.
We’ve heard that Reedus is a pretty standup guy and hasn’t let the fame get to his head. Clips like this help bolster that. It’s hard to believe he is more than just Darryl, the zombie killing machine! Check out the video above. This is a behind the scenes reel of the upcoming music video from the music duo’s album “Pink Palms”.
From the video, we can definitely tell that these vintage trucks aren’t pristine trailer queens. One of them even springs a leak and halts filming for at least a few minutes. We unfortunately don’t have much info to run off of for specs on the trucks kickin’ up dust and doing donuts, what can you see? Drop a comment below and let us know!
