Fast and Furious star Paul Walker rose from virtual obscurity to nearly a household name, helping the street racing series become one of the most successful movie franchises of all time. His sudden and tragic passing shocked the car and film industry, and the outpouring of grief has been almost overwhelming. People are now remembering Walker in their own way for the compassion soul and dedicated car guy he was.
Matt Farah of The Smoking Tire took a tour of Paul Walker’s immense car collection, and for a guy who’s starring role featured him driving mostly imports, Walker’s collection contained mostly muscle cars, especially Mustangs.
Of course just as any car guy would do, Walker’s interests knew no bounds, and he had a sizable collection of exotic cars from Porsche, BMW, Ferrari, and even a matte blue Rolls Royce. Because hey, who wouldn’t want to be driven around from time to time in a bad ass Rolls? When Farah and his team originally filmed this piece over a year ago though, they didn’t say who the collection belonged to. Turns out it belonged to Walker and the other victim in the crash, Walker’s friend Roger Rodas.
But by far the most popular car in Walker’s collection were Mustangs of every vintage, from the most recent Shelby GT500 to a beautiful recreation of the Eleanor Mustang from Gone in 60 Seconds. Yet Walker seemed to have a particular affinity for Saleen Mustangs, having at least a half-dozen of the specialty aftermarket Mustangs, many of them on the Fox-body platform. And these are just the cars in one half of Walker’s massive warehouse.
We’ll let you find out what’s on the other half for yourselves, but suffice to say, Walker was every bit the car guy he portrayed on the big screen.
