Some might say that Hollywood is obsessed with muscle cars, and the accusation is not without cause. It seems that most directors find a way to get muscle cars into their movies, and when the movie is focused on cars, you can almost guarantee that slow motion will be used quite liberally. And when you combine slow motion with a high-speed car jump, well, you get this next video.
While we hate to watch a classic Pontiac GTO get absolutely wrecked and ruined, it’s hard to not be entertained by the crunched catastrophe of this slow-motion destruction.
There is no backstory to this video, no point or purpose. All we know is that the GTO starts out about 15-20 feet in the air, and comes down slow-but-hard. While most Hollywood movies gloss over the whole car-somehow-landing-intact-from-a-fast-hard-fall, this video gives us the up-close details of what actually happens to a car put through this sort of abuse.
In short; nothing good. No doubt the frame is bent, the chassis twisted, and the front end ruined. Then again, we’re surprised that the damage wasn’t worse. Most everything from the windshield back didn’t look all that bad. Could this car be salvaged? Or was its slow-motion sacrifice the last hurrah for this classic Pontiac?
