Recent changes have made it so that automakers can no longer chase “official” track records on the famed Nordschleife loop of the Nurburgring race track in Germany. That’s a hard hit for enthusiasts and automakers alike, but that doesn’t mean the regular Nurburgring racers have let up on the gas at all. While crashes are regular occurrences on the Nurburgring, rarely do we have such perfect video of an American sports car absolutely eating it.

The car in question is a second-generation Dodge Viper convertible, most likely of the 2002 to 2007 vintage, which brought a bit too much speed into the famously tricky Adenauer Forst section of the ‘Ring. The Viper also holds a reputation as being notoriously difficult to drive, and as you cans see in the video (especially if you slow the action down) the back end is already kicking outt before the wheels ever touch the curb and grass. Once that happens though, it’s all over but the crying, as the Viper does a 180 spin into the wall right next to the fearless videographer.

Amazingly both passengers seem unbloodied, if not a bit banged up, despite not wearing any protective headgear. The passenger in particular seems to experience the immediate regret of not wearing a helmet, slamming their head hard into the window, which to its credit doesn’t shatter despite the high-velocity crash.

The trunk, however, pops right open, ejecting its contents in a sort of mechanical projectile vomit sort of way, scattering empty juice and soda bottles across the track. Though the accident happened just a few days ago, it has already racked up over 200,000 views, proving once again that if there’s anything automotive enthusiasts love to watch, it’s wealthy people wrecking exotic sports cars.
