Thanks to the Internet and advances in camera technology, it does not take long for epic failures in the world of automobiles to “go viral” as it were. It has also meant that any Joe Schmo with a car blog and a decent web following can get time behind the wheel of high-performance cars without much in the way of training.
We’re not sure what sorts of credentials the filmers of this Viper disaster had, but whatever they were, the driver wasn’t good enough to keep his Viper from going off a cliff in this near-disaster.
We say near-disaster because by some miracle, this Viper went down the cliff 100 feet, flipping by then coming to a stop just short of total disaster. The driver had approached this cliffside corner way too fast, locking up his brakes and going right over the edge while hardly slowing down. The Ferrari that was chasing him did not make the same mistake thankfully, but it looked like the end for the driver and his Viper.
But the driver walked away from this accident. The Viper, meanwhile, does not look like it will recover any time soon. The damage is pretty extensive, and getting the Viper back up on the road won’t do it any favors either. But at least the driver survived his harrowing ordeal…and will approach such corners with more respect in the future.
