Looks like the Mustang was already in the minds of some, especially Lee Iacocca when it may have all started in 1962 with Lee wanting something more, something that would catch the attention of a younger crowd. Iacocca then decided to host a design contest where competitors sculpted for two weeks working on designs for this new sporty car, called the 1962 Concept Mustang. After it was all said and done, a young Joe Oros’s design was chosen as the winner. Soon after that his design was created and thrown out on the show circuit.

The Mustang name obviously stuck. Two years later in 1964, the Ford Mustang was starting production. Although, not much like the previous concept, this American pony car still turns heads today gaining appreciation from Mustang enthusiasts of all years. From 4-cylinders to Kenne Belle blown SVT Cobras, the Mustang has come a long way as a front runner with a track record of almost fifty years. This 4-cylinder concept just may have changed it all if you think about it. One design contest later could have sparked this Mustang phenomenon that has been going strong for quite some time now.

This Mustang concept seems to be far advanced and ahead of the times in the year that it was built. The lines are smooth and at first glance it seems to resemble a Corvette. Not the worst of concept cars and not the worst of other Mustang renderings that we’ve seen throughout the years.
