Whether you have kids of your own or are just a kid at heart, you’ve undoubtedly seen that the spin-off movie of Disney’s “Cars,” titled “Planes,” is about to hit theaters this weekend. But it’s not just the kids and kids-at-heart that are getting a taste of the Disney magic. In fact, the whole Lowe’s Racing team is also getting in the spirit with a new car paint scheme and matching “Planes” gear. Check out the complete wrapping process for the No. 48 NASCAR Chevrolet SS in double time in the video above.
The new “Planes” graphic scheme for the No. 48 Lowe’s Racing Chevrolet SS was put on special for last weekend’s NASCAR GoBowling.com 400 Sprint Cup Series race at Pocono Raceway in Long Pond, Pennsylvania. A normally time-consuming process, the video above captures the whole project in just over a minute and thirty seconds, including finished feature shots of the completed Hendrick Motorsports SS.
While the new graphics scheme is certainly sweet, it unfortunately did not lead driver Jimmie Johnson to a win at the latest NASCAR race.
Half way through the race, Johnson, who was leading at the time, hit the wall after a tire blew. Johnson did recover well, however, coming back to finish 13th. That left him with a 77 point lead over second-place Clint Bowyer for the series so far.
Disney’s “Planes” hits theaters on Friday August 9th and is sure to be a hit with the kid, young and old alike.
Now if only Johnson could keep increasing his points lead as we go into the later part of NASCAR season, it would be a win-win for the Chevrolet team!
