Very few cartoon shows last more than a few seasons. Notable exceptions include the Simpsons and Family guy…though there is one cartoon series that has been on the air in various forms for over 40 years.
We’re talking about the one and only Scooby Doo, where a group of teenagers and their talking dog constantly stumble into poorly-planned crimes involving fake ghosts.
A quiet but devoted cult following has built up around Scooby Doo, as well as their preferred mode of transportation, the Dodge A100 van known as the “Mystery Machine”. io9 reports that for $3,200, you can pick up a replica Mystery Machine…though we’re not sure if the “JENKIES” license plate comes with it.
We never noticed the similarities between the Dodge A100 van and the Mystery Machine before, but seeing it in the flesh, it sort of makes sense. While far from reliable (at least in the show; it always seemed to break down in a swamp or haunted town) the Mystery Machine served as a mobile base for Fred, Thelma, Daphne, Shaggy, Scooby Doo, and later on Scrappy Doo.
For $3,200, you get a 1969 A100 van with a six-cylinder engine and 3-speed transmission, painted up like the Mystery Machine. Really, what more could you want? It’s the ultimate gift for the ultimate Scooby Doo fan. All three of you. If you want it, head to craigslist to scoop it up.
