It’s no secret that we love watching anything fast from the Ford world. We can’t get enough of Hennessey’s latest builds, so it is an understatement when we say that we are giddy over their supercharged ’15 HPE700 Ford Mustang GT. Check out the video of John Hennessey galloping his personal HPE700 Ford Mustang GT to the limit at the Continental Tire Proving Grounds in Uvalde, Texas.
On February 4th, 2015, the supercharged HPE700 Mustang proved itself at the Continental Tires Proving Grounds. Being John Hennessey’s personal vehicle, this Mustang is no trailer queen. In fact, John drove the car to and from the proving grounds, a 500+ mile round trip on slick roads during drizzly weather. That’s a nice haul for a RWD car putting out 717 HP and 632 lb-ft of torque, according to the HPE700 description on the Hennessey website.
After arriving at the track and getting the car prepped and oiled up with Pennzoil, John gathered everyone together for a little prayer for safety, and then it was time to get down to serious business. John suited up for the Continental 8.5 mile oval track, and during the 1.1 mile straightaway, he piloted his personal beast down the track and at wide open throttle, the HPE700 clocked in at an impressive 195.4 miles per hour!
“Pretty happy with that,” John says. “It’s not 200 (mph) but it’s pretty darn close! We’ll come back and get 200.”
We can’t wait to see the Hennessey HPE700 Mustang GT come back out to try again for the 200 mph club!
