It’s always refreshing to hear about big shots that are doing their part to help those less fortunate, especially when those big shots make their money in the automotive industry. We recently learned that Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne will be auctioning off his custom 2011 Dodge Challenger SRT8 392 at Barrett-Jackson, and donating all the proceeds to the United Way of Southeastern Michigan. Marchoinne’s Challenger will cross the block at Barrett-Jackson’s Palm Beach event coming up next month.
The Challenger features several custom options that Marchoinne picked out personally for the car, including a full coil over suspension and exhaust system from Mopar. The SRT8 also has been treated to the “sinister” look thanks to blacked out emblems and charcoal stripes and wheels.
As a bonus, one of the new 426 Hemi Crate Engines will also be auctioned off as a package deal along with Marchoinne’s Challenger. The 426 Gen III crate engine features all aluminum construction, along with a fully forged rotating assembly. This beast makes 540 horsepower and 530 pound feet of torque right out of the crate, and will be an instant shot of “GO” for whatever it gets dropped into. We’re thinking that the lucky dog who wins the auction should put the 426 Hemi Crate in the Marchoinne Challenger, and then swap the car’s stock 392 into some classic Mopar iron. What do you think?
