When it comes to classic cars, the convertibles always seem to be a much cooler car than a late model convertible, and that includes the popular “bubble-top” convertibles you see these days. You know the ones, they start to look like a balloon at freeway speeds – and it happens to so many cars lately. But the classics had a great line to them and the car was built the right way, with the top folding down inside the boot of the car all nice and clean. They don’t make them like that anymore.
If you miss the cool air blowing through your hair while you cruise in your classic car, here’s your chance to own a very nice 1962 Oldsmobile Starfire Convertible, as found on eBay. There doesn’t seem to be any offers with just a couple days left, and with the price of $32,950 that could be an indication why. We’ve seen other examples for a little less, but this one seems to be in excellent shape, and is part of an estate sale.
It’s hard to determine the value of such a nice car when you see more popular models selling for twice this price, and then you find a 1961 that’s also on eBay with bidding at about half. Either way, it’s an extremely cool looking convertible, and the owner says he’s sold this car before. What he doesn’t tell us, though, is how much it was sold for the last time.
Some of the luxury features are the 394 ci 335 hp 4 barrel V8, power steering, power windows (including the vents), an original AM radio and factory wheel covers. It only has about 71,000 miles on it, and there’s no doubt that this car will get some attention, but you first have to get over the sticker shock if you want to be seen cruising in this luxury convertible.
