For the first time in forty years, the Snake and Mongoose funny cars and Hot Wheels hauler trucks can be seen outside of California. That’s because Barrett-Jackson has teamed up with the producers of the forthcoming Snake and Mongoose biopic, a story that we featured earlier, to sponsor a fantastic event involving the iconic funny cars and their colorful trucks.
The vehicles will ramble from Reno to Scottsdale over a period of six months, from now until January 2014. “We’ve wanted these iconic haulers and cars to be a part of Barrett-Jackson for many years. The historical significance they had during that era and continue to have is unparalleled and has made an impact on a sport that has lasted a lifetime,” said Barrett-Jackson President, Steve Davis.
Just last week, folks flocked to Reno to partake in Barrett-Jackson’s Hot August Nights Auction, where the ketchup and mustard machines were on display at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center. Prudhomme himself was present, signing autographs in front of the display.
The colorful cars and trucks will make a few more stops from now until their auction in January. The next stop is near the Motor City, where the vehicles are now on display in the Palladium 12 parking lot for the Birmingham premiere as part of the Woodward Dream Cruise. The display will continue until the 18th, when the traveling show will pack up and head to Indianapolis for the NHRA US Nationals, from August 30th to September 2nd.
After that, your next opportunity to see them will be when they circle back to the Southwest: Las Vegas. The 6th Annual Barrett-Jackson Las Vegas Auction will feature a Snake and Mongoose display at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino, September 26-28.

There will be a three-month hiatus following this appearance, with the final stop in Scottsdale, Arizona, as part of the 43rd Annual Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale Auction. It is here that the anticipation will reach fever-like proportions, as all four vehicles will cross the block. How much do you think they will fetch? Place your bets in the comments below.
