A high school shop class is where a lot of mechanics get their start. They dip their toe into the world of turning wrenches, usually falling in. One particular shop class at Norwalk High School, helped the teacher restore a 1969 Chevy Nova that had a pro street flair to it reports CBS.
Over 400 students helped to restore the car over the last seven years, learning valuable life lessons in the process. The car was originally picked up for a few hundred dollars and needed a full restoration. The students did everything from sheet metal repair, painting, to building the engine. The student who built the motor went on to become a Master Technician, with this motor being the first he ever built.
Then on Monday at 3:00AM, somebody stole the prized Nova from in front of the teacher’s house. A neighbor reported seeing a repossession style tow truck hooking the Nova and taking off with it. Authorities haven’t located the car yet.
The car was missing the hood, as the students removed it trying to diagnose an overheating issue. All the students are distraught at losing the car. The Nova was funded by the teacher, who owned the Nova.
If you see this car cruising the streets, be sure to give the police department a call!
