Right before the holidays commenced, we got to take a look at what we thought was the coolest APP of the year with the Drift Mania racing game for the IPad and IPod Touch. In the case of Drift Mania 2, an addictive 3D gameplay made for a drifting experience that was well-rounded to say the least.
One game, however, adds an even bigger twist to what can and can’t be done in a racetrack environment, though in the case of TrackMania, currently the hottest PC racing game online there is more that can be done than can’t.
This is because TrackMania’s selection of tracks are environment-based, allowing players to race in everything from a stadium to a natural desert setting while offering ramps, loops and other obstacles.
As seen in our featured video, the best part of TrackMania is that it offers a selection of homesoil muscle to fulfill your need for V8 power, so that you’re never confined to just imports or F1. This means that if you want to race on a more professional level then you can, or simply test your own skills.
If a joyride is what you’re after then TrackMania Nations Forever, the free version of the downloadable game, allows you to race exclusively in the game’s “Stadium” setting with some of the more advanced features disabled. In order to unlock some of these, you’ll have to upgrade to TrackMania United Forever where you can customize your own tracks, set and break your own records and share your results with others.
Built with the PC gamer in mind, both the free and paid versions of TrackMania are compatible with either Windows XP SP2, Vista SP1 or Windows 7. It’s understood that it can never really replicate the racing experience, but if you’re ready to test the boundaries of your driving skills then make sure that you check out TrackMania’s website to see if this cool download will be one of your resolutions for 2013!
